Anyone who has ever been rejected knows that it hurts. It’s no fun being turned down by people.
But there is an even more dangerous consequence of rejection, which is it has the tendency to discourage us from every trying again. Moreover, if you are shunned enough times, you will stop trying all together.
However, there is an upside that comes with being rejected. Actually there is more than one.
In this post, I am going to show you how to deal with rejection. By the end of this article, you will be able deal with the negative feelings that comes with being disappointed.
If a person gets rejected enough times, one of two things happen. The first thing they can do is quit. The second thing they can do is to continue trying until they get what they want.
As you can see, learning how to deal with rejection can mean the difference between success and failure, especially if you are an entrepreneur.
In most cases, people generally tend to throw in the towel or move on to something else. For the people in the second group that decide to keep trying, they are generally the people in life that are rewarded the most for their persistence.
As a matter of fact, in the world of buying and selling, most deals are closed on about the sixth or eighth try. That’s what the tops sales people in the world are a limited few.
For example, it took us running about six to eight ads for our business before we found one that worked well for us. We didn't quit after the first or second try.
The take away here is that if you have experienced rejection, dust yourself off and keep trying until you discover the right way to get the thing or result that you desire achieving.
First of all, what do I mean by self-correct? The only way to learn from your mistakes is by going through trial and error.
As you progress along the road to reaching whatever the thing it is that you are pursuing, you will need to adjust the way you do things. In order for you to put yourself in a space where you are learning and most creative, you need to be making mistakes on a consistent basis and learn from them.
The process of self-correction can also lead you to unearthing new knowledge.
For instance, my business partner and I were having some difficulties streamlining our online turn-key system.
So, we decided to analyze our sales process, and we discovered that there were some business books that we needed to read in order to gain a better understanding of how we can better run our business.
My advice here is to make sure that you are flexible to learning new things and making necessary adjustments when needed.
Let me first of all say this if you didn’t already know, sales people are the highest paid people in the world because of their ability to sell.
Sounds obvious doesn’t it? You may be amazed at how many people out there overlook the power of persuasion.
The truth is this, we are all selling something on one level or another. Your mother is selling you to make the bed, you are selling her to buy you an Xbox, your dad is selling his boss for a raise and the guy at your local flea-market is selling you his items.
Life is all about sales, and the better you are at selling yourself and your ideas, the more successful you will be.
So, whenever you experience rejection, all that really means is that you haven’t yet deployed the best sales technique.
It is very important that you make the distinction between persistence and persuasion. Persistence is the vehicle, persuasion is the driver of the vehicle.
If you are curious about who are some of the best sales people on planet earth, study children. They are the best sales people because they know how to sell on emotion. And they never quit.
So, go out there, get some rejections under your belt and become a closer.
